Hurricane hunter, gunship, aerial spy, tanker, rescue aircraft, special operations, electronic warrior, drone carrier, communications platform – and of course cargo hauler  – the Lockheed C130 Hercules has completed more tasks than its legendary Greek namesake.

First flown less than a decade after the end of World War Two and still being built today, the Hercules holds the record for the longest continuous production run of any military aircraft.

Hercules details the first 70 years of the aircraft, focussing on its development, the many operators, and numerous variants of the world’s most successful transport.
