A completely adapted reworking of the original French 1950 volume by Le Sabretache, this edition is 184pp., 4to, colour uniform plates throughout with English captions, English/French table of uniform colour terminology. 2016. This famous study has been the standard work on the Russian Napoleonic Army’s uniforms. Several years ago we produced a fine facsimile as a hand-crafted publication. Now modern printing opportunities allow us to produce this new edition. How best to handle the material, Stephen and I thought. Well, it has not been possible to translate all of the original French text, but instead Stephen has concentrated upon the essential element of the book – the uniform plates. These have been made more useable by splitting into logical new plate sections, properly indexed for ease of identification, and all colour shades translated in a special glossary of terms. The result is a spectacular, beautiful study of the principal uniforms of all arms, with 50 colour plates as well as numerous additional text illustrations.
