This 768-page book presents the biographies of 381 Soviet male and female fighter pilots that fought during the Great Patriotic War (22.06.1941-09.05.1945). If they participated in the fighting in China, against the Japanese in the 1930s, in the Spanish Civil War, the Russo-Finnish War in 1939/1940, or the Korean War, that is also mentioned in their biographies. As far as is possible, this publication provides information on all their kills, photos of the pilots, as well as photos and colour profiles of the aircraft they fought in. Also included is information regarding Soviet decorations and military ranks relating to the Soviet Air Force. The book provides technical data and production totals of fighter aircraft produced in the Soviet Union, fighter aircraft received under the terms of Lend-Lease, and fighter aircraft of the enemies (Germany, Finland, Italy, Romania, and Hungary).

The book contains: 768 pages, 1,040 photographs, 406 tables, 788 colour aircraft profiles, colour images of 26 decorations, and 110 colour drawings of military ranks. Also included is a separate colour map in A0 format, showing the disposition of the air forces of the Soviet Union and Germany on 22.06.1941.
